B.A. Intermedia

Bild des Studiengangs

The main academic and artistic starting points are educational media research, media pedagogics and didactics, media culture studies, media arts and artistic research, as well as media psychology. The main methodological starting points are the social and cultural science approaches to the area of artistic/media practice and the design of auditory and visual media.

Building on a solid, specialised foundation course in the areas of media pedagogics, media culture studies and artistic/media practice, the single-subject BA degree programme enable students to individually select their specialities based on their own interests from a wide range of specialist modules. An integrated practical placement helps students to link theory with practice and gives them practical professional experience. The rich and diverse academic, business and cultural links and networks of the media landscape in Cologne provide the ideal conditions for the degree programme.

Alongside the interdisciplinary academic and artistic skills gained in their individual specialisations via the different specialist modules, students will also acquire research, decision-making and communication skills that are relevant in many media-related careers. Especially as a result of their engagement with media in a practical, aesthetic and academically reflexive manner, students on the BA Intermedia degree programme will qualify for a broad range of jobs in the areas of education, media, culture and design.

Proficiency in English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required.
